Catherine signs the Woodley petition with Parliamentary Candidate Gareth Epps

Catherine Bearder, Berkshire's Lib Dem Euro MP, was in Woodley last weekend to support local calls for a crossing between the Oakwood Centre and the Headley Road car park.

Local residents, including Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Reading East Gareth Epps, are calling on Wokingham Borough Council to build a pedestrian crossing. They believe it will not only improve highway safety but also improve access to the Oakwood Centre and Woodford Park for disabled users and improve patient's pedestrian access to the new surgeries at 6 Headley Road.

Catherine said, "the Tory controlled Borough Council are opposing the views of local residents and are refusing to consider the crossing they're asking for."

"The Oakwood Centre is an important part of the Woodley community and we need to make sure residents can access it safely."

"Once again it's Gareth Epps and the Liberal Democrats that are working for local residents, when clearly their Council is working against them."
