Catherine met with members of the Great Reading Liberal Democrats on Friday to talk with them about the work of an MEP and the issues that matter to Reading that are happening in the European Parliament.

Also speaking was a Dutch guest, Jacob Visscher who works in the Council of Ministers secretariat. He was able to describe the history EU and how the Council works with member States.

The evening was well attended and the questions were many and varied, ranging from Why not Esperanto as an official language? to What is next after the Lisbon Treaty?

"I always enjoy meeting the members and talking about European issues" said Catherine, "there is so much interest and a willingness to learn about the work. I am sure that come the European elections, the team in Reading will be working hard for the Lib Dems, just as did in the recent local elections".
