Catherine spent yesterday (Thursday 16th August) in Portsmouth helping local Lib Dems with this important by-election in Fratton.

She is delighted that we retained our seat at the by-election - and our position as the biggest political group on Portsmouth City Council.

Our candidate David Fuller defeated the Conservative candidate despite the fact that they were working hard in this by-election.

David polled 1,196 votes - 700 more than the second-placed candidate, Conservative Gerry Oldfield.

"This gives the lie to any Conservative revival in Portsmouth," says Catherine.
