Throughout my time in the Parliament I will be fighting against and raising awareness of the disgrace that is this modern-day slave trade.
This under-reported and under-represented crime is the shame of Britain, the European Union and the World. It is a problem that can only be tackled by working in complete partnership with our neighbours which is why the European Union needs to take the lead in fighting this abhorrent trade.
Here you will be able to learn more about trafficking, see my work on the subject, and the work of the many organisations that I'm now working with. Please see below the latest news about my work on this issue.

Slavery will be wiped out at cocoa farms used by Ferrero within the next eight years, the chocolate maker has pledged.
Catherine Bearder, an MEP for the South East, welcomed the confectionary giant's stand, which follows anti-slavery moves by Nestle and Hershey.
The Italian firm, which produces Ferrero Rocher, Nutella spread and Kinder eggs, said it will eradicate child and forced labour on plantations by 2020.

Liberal Democrat MEP Catherine Bearder has called on UEFA to help clampdown on the potential for human trafficking at its big tournaments.
In a debate in the European Parliament, the long-standing campaigner against sexual exploitation of children, women and men said:
"While UEFA should be commended for launching campaigns to tackle racism in the game, I believe it is not doing enough to raise awareness of human trafficking."

Shopkeepers and supermarkets are being urged to make sure their shelves are next year stocked with Easter eggs made with traffick-free chocolate.
Catherine Bearder, an MEP for the South East, has recently visited a cocoa factory in the Ivory Coast and is working to help improve the industry.
She is also supporting charity Stop the Traffik's campaign calling on shops to make sure Easter eggs they sell are not made using child labour.

Trafficking is happening in our communities and we must be the eyes and ears for the police, Catherine Bearder MEP said today.
It comes after 12 men were arrested in Oxford as part of an investigation into child exploitation of girls aged between 11 and 16-years-old.
They are being quizzed on a range of offences, including causing prostitution of females under age of 18, administrating drugs for purpose of rape, trafficking, grooming and rape.

A new song is poised to make a noise in the fight to stamp out human trafficking.
The 27 million track, which is released on Monday, February 27, is aimed at raising awareness of the anti-slavery movement.
Matt Redman has teamed up with LZ7 and anti-trafficking organisation A21 to produce the track, which will be available on iTunes in the UK before a global release a week later.
